eTa Blades will showcase its circular economy project, the design lamps made with wind blades manufacturing scraps, at the Maker Faire BIOECONOMY Village in Rome

Concept and design by Michele Omiccioli, as a graduation project at the LABA – Libera Accademia di Belle Arti of Rimini, manufactured in the eTa Blades factory in Fano, the indoor and outdoor lamps of the uTo series are inspired by the design theory of the Italian designer Enzo Mari. “Ethics is the goal of every project”

uTo as “utopia”, a term related to the design method applied in the realization of the project, uTo as “UFO” because of the aesthetic of  the lamps, uTo as eTa which stands for “efficiency”, concept that inspired, with a view to circular economy, the development of a piece of furniture starting from the scraps of fiberglass fabric resulting from the blade production.

For eTa Blades, leader in Italy in wind blades manufacturing, uTo is the second project of creative re-use of manufacturing waste after “Up-Cycling”, the System of Sustainable Urban Islands that gives new functions to the roots of the blades: bike racks, chairs, floors, flowerpots, baskets, etc.

The prototype of the uTo lamps series will be exhibited at the BIOECONOMY Village, the showcase on the applications of the bio-economy of the Maker Faire in Rome from 12 to 14 October 2018.
